The City of Portland’s Office of Community and Civic Life is leading a multi-year reimagining of community engagement: How do you want to influence the City of Portland and our collective future?
It starts with Listening. Right now, Civic Life and its partners are listening to Portlanders, data, and experts before they make any changes to the City’s engagement framework.
We’ll share a Synthesis of everything we heard in July/August 2023.
Starting in Fall 2023, the City will begin updating Portland’s engagement Design based on your ideas.

Making Engagement Better for All Portlanders
Most Portlanders are not engaged with City government. To make Portland more inclusive, equitable, and future-ready, we need to understand why and create solutions to make it easier for everyone to influence their city.
Portland’s last major engagement design was 50 years ago, but our city has grown by 70% since then! We need an updated engagement model that reflects our growth and who Portlanders are today.
